Valdez
every time I come back to this place, I fall in love with it more and more. I’m here with Wink Productions filming for an HD tv show as well as a movie to be released next year. As far as Ak goes conditions have been good but not great. You can always count yourself lucky to get clear days in Alaska but there are so many factors that need to be just right. Lucky for us almost everything is in place, blower snow, sunny skies and a great crew but the stability is less than great. We scope out our lines from an oposing ridge, then fly in and land and more times than not just the presure from the rotor wash of the heli avalanches the entire slope. So far so good, we’ve managed to get on some pretty rowdy terain and no one has been swept off. Our crew is a mix of seasoned big mountain guys as well as a couple boys who are having the time of their lifes in a first AK experiance. We’re made up of skiers from Sweden (Kaj, Jon) US (Cody, Billy) and of course Canada (Guy and myself). Unfortunatly I only have a couple more days to ski here, that is until next year at least. If you’re thinking of coming to Valdez, check out Dean Cummings operaton H2O Guides.
