Deer Hunting
Saturday, October 31st, 2009
Ski and snowmobile season is what I should be most excited for but the night before deer hunting I can’t sleep. The excitement of getting a big buck keeps me up all night.
I usually hunt with a fun crew of guys that are all about the hunt but more in it for the good times. This year our numbers dropped a bit as my brother Daryl is living in Venezuela working as a teacher and Dave is in Pemberton full time as a Young life leader. As much as I missed having them around it meant that I could actually hunt instead of just trying to get them a good deer. Turns out it was the wrong year for me to hunt as the deer population is way down in our area. Reason being the the wolves and bears have been taking them down as well as a couple hard winters. We spent 7 days hunting hard and shot at almost every deer we shot.
I ended up with a good sized buck for the freezer but the rack wasn’t anything to write home about. Never the less it’s always a good time out in the boats with the boys.
We can’t figure this one out fore sure. Either a bear or sasquatch den? You tell me
