first up rutherford

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

As far as I know we were the first people up the Rutherford Glacier on Friday. Snow was epic and the sun was finally out for a whole day. Thanks to a combined effort from BRP and Valley Chainsaw to get me onto a new 2010 xp. It’s been running great and with over 450cms this month it’s been put to the test.

More Snow

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Just when I didn’t think it could get much better, it snows another 51cms overnight. There is already better coverage on Whistler than any time last season. the freezing level went to the valley last night and it dumped bringing the base to 233cm. The atmosphere on the mountain is amazing. The few people around are all locals. Here’s a photo from the end of the day today. shot by Bryan Ralph.

Whistler all time opener

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Whistler is off to a banger start. The mountain opened on the 14th with a good base but since opening it’s just been stacking up. In the past 7 days we received 204cms most of which fell right to the valley floor. Already cliff  and pillow lines are formed and good to go.

Hunting and trapping

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

It’s been a great trapping and hunting season this fall. The past couple months made up for the terrible summer in Ontario. Weather has been warm and sunny making for some great days on the water. End tally for the season was 3 wolves, 20 beaver, lots of grouse and ducks, no moose but a stack of deer. Now that fall is over winter is here.
