Epic Pow

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Whistler has really turned it on. The past few days have been some of the best of the year. No sun but cold temps and lots of stable snow. Spent the last days shooting with Geoff Kyle for the new Slednecks. All kinds of crazy pillow lines going down and trying some new stuff like whips of pillow cliffs. If nothing else the crash real is looking good. Dan Galic was along for the ride and took some epic shots!!

Massive Slide

Monday, March 15th, 2010

There’s all sorts of rumors going around as to what is going on in Revelstoke. From what I know there have been 2 deaths and a number of people injured from a massive slide during the Big Iron Shootout. Spectators were hit by a thirty foot wall of snow that broke off from one of the sledders high marking. My thoughts go out to all the people involved as well as their family and friends.

Back in Whistler

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I’m back home in Whistler and the season just keeps on rolling. I haven’t had a bad day yet this season at home. The snow has always been good somewhere close by in the coast range. It wasn’t supposed to be clear and after a 12hr travel day from Montana I was feeling like having a bit of a down day. By 11 am the clouds started to break and the sun shone thru. With almost a foot of fresh in the past 24hrs I figured I should be skiing. In the past few years I’ve pretty much given up shooting on Whistler mt as the crowds are growing and the good skiers multiplying. With the Olympics this year the place is a bit of a ghost town so I called Eric Berger and we went and hit the mountain. Good snow, sun and no crowds. What more could you ask for.

West Yellowstone

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Had a great couple of days at West Yellowstone Montana. The town is a cool old place that looks a bit like a hollywood set of the old west. The town is pro snowmobile as they don’t plow the streets and allow snowmobiles to be driven almost everywhere in town. The reason I was there was to ride with the 4 finalists from Skidoos ultimate drop contest. We had a great day of riding the 2011’s and to all the service guys surprise, we even brought them all back in one piece.

new freeride

new freeride

The new Freeeride and backcountry renegade were the sleds I rode the most. The suspension is incredible and the power and throttle response of the new 800 etech is all time. The snow was pretty beat but with some traveling we found some good pockets that still held good snow. But what made the day was the crew of 12 of us rallying and trying to out do each other. Make sure to check out the new freeride as it’s only available in the spring check line up.

March Madness

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

The past few days have been a great surprise. Freezing levels went thru the roof last sunday and it looked like we were done for a while with good snow. In fact I was in Florida last week and it was colder than Vancouver when I flew in. Somehow the levels came down in time for some great snow to accumulate before it cleared up. Had a couple wicked days of shooting for slednecks with Geoff Kyle.
