Im a born and raised redneck, who grew up in this super cool town in western Ontario where theres a million different little lakes and islands and moose and wolves and a hellvalot of good times.
In 1994, I headed to Whistler to pursue my dream of becoming a really good skier. Thats all it was. I wanted to ski deep pow on really steep faces and toss super big cliffs along the way. And I wanted to be solid at doing it. Party a bit too, sure, but it was the mountains I wanted. Grip and rip it....thats it.
I spent the next few years tossing my carcass and skiing permanently closed areas, getting my ass kicked off the hill a couple of times, exploring the Coast Mountains on my sled and skiing a ton. People started calling me Big Air Dan and the next thing you know I started getting pictures published in magazines - usually of me going big. I got a few sponsors and the rest is, as they say, history.
Today I spend my summers running my construction company back in my home town, Kenora, Ontario, tossing big rope swings and hunting moose on my days off. In the winter I travel the world in the name of Oakley, Rossingnol, Leki, Giro and Whistler-Blackcomb doing what Ive been dreaming about since my brothers and I first ripped our local ski hill back in Kenora...skiing.
Hope that helps.......
