Red Bull Hitch

May 3rd, 2007

After a winter of enjoying all the pirks I’m finally able to fulfill my end of the bargain. This year Red Bull agreed to give me a gas card to pay all my sled fuel. In return I’m rocking this rad hitch plate on my truck. Thanks boys.

Hill Climb

April 23rd, 2007

Rutherford Hill Climb
Just when I thought I’de seen it all, I went to the Big Dog hill climb. Over a thousand sleds competing for biggest redneck of the weekend. The parking lot would rival any tailgate party, except this one was full of two strokes and no law. If the parking lots didn’t impress you than the lines some people thru down would. I’ve spent a lot of time skiing the area that the freestyle contest was in and I can say that I’ve been nervous to drop in on skis to some of the lines guys climbed on their sleds. Multiple lines went down that where no turning back lines. If the sled didn’t make it the only choice was for guys to try and get the track stuck in so they could be lifted out by heli or else to jump for the nearest tree to save themselves. It was quite possibly the craziest event I’ve ever witnessed. If you’re anywhere near Whistler next April make sur eto check it out.

Knights Inlet

March 21st, 2007

I finally made it to real luxury! The plan is to fly by float plane to the end of the Knight Inlet which is located on the B.C Coast half way between Vancouver and Bella Coola. Bryce, Stian, Billy Adam,Dustin and I arrive to a beautiful blue day where we board the 110 foot luxury yacht, the Astral Star. Things can’t be better, Snow is good, great crew and we’re staying on a yacht with a helicopter parked on the beach. Our first day is crystal blue but our helicopter has left over a heated conversation with the boat captain. We manage to get another heli in. On our third run Stian and Jane release a cornice that triggers a class 4 slide and almost crushes the heli with 4 of us in it. Miraculously we’re all okay but the heli leaves as it needs to be torn down and inspected. We debrief for a couple days before heading home as there is no heli to fly us.

Bralorne

February 26th, 2007

I’m in Bralorne for 12 days with Wink inc. Bralorne is an abandoned minning town north of Pemberton. At one time 2500 people lived here making it one of Canadas largest towns. It’s home to the largest underground mine in B.C and while in operation produced the largest amount of gold of it’s kind. During the trip we me t up with a miner Ned who is involved in gold exploration and he took us on a tour 3000 feet into the ground. What a crazy experiance. It snowed almost every day of the trip but we still got some great skiing and sledding in. It’s the beauty of skiing off the snowmobiles because if this would have been a heli trtip it would have been a total waste of time, but as it turned out it was a huge success.

Revelstoke

February 1st, 2007

Snow turned to shit in Whistler so it’s I’m on the hunt for snow. Luckily I don’t have to go that far as Revelstoke still has good snow. i’m off with Bryn Hughes a few snowmobile buddies and my brothers. The snow is was good enuf to ski but after being spoiled early season it’s hard to get excited about b grade snow so it turned into an exploration trip. It always amazes me how many mountains you can travel in a day of sledding. After 6 days I’de travelled over 700kms and been on top of as many mountains as you could ski tour in an entire lifetime. Dave decided to make this day interesting!!
